Why Does My 8 Week Old Cocker Pup Not Wag His Tail Much?

Why does my 8 week old cocker spaniel puppy not wag his tail much?

He does not appear to be in pain, although we've been told he has creeping dandruff which is being treated.

We've only had him a few days.

Reply from Pauline (Web Owner)

If you've only had your puppy a few days, he's probably still feeling disorientated and missing his mother and his littermates.

Imagine suddenly being taken away from your family and your secure and familiar environment - how would you feel? If you had a tail, I don't think you'd be wagging it! LOL

Our article on cocker spaniel puppy care and bringing home a new puppy may help you to make his first few weeks a little more comfortable.

Don't worry, if he's eating well, drinking plenty of water, and doesn't appear to be ill or unhealthy, he'll come round.

If you're really concerned about him, why not speak to your vet for reassurance?

Good luck.

He's probably just frightened - like his first day at school - he's in a new and strange environment.

Just give him plenty of cuddles, keep things quiet, and let him sleep.

He'll be fine!
