Yeah, I heard the same thing. My cocker spaniels coat has been shaved off and he seems to get very hot in the summer - before that he never seemed to overheat.

It's my understanding that a cockers coat will keep her cool in the summer and warm in the winter.
If you remove your dog's silky top coat and just leave the thicker undercoat, she may be too hot in summer.
