Scooby Is A Very Nervous Young Man

by Steve
(England)

Scooby The Nervous Cocker Spaniel

Scooby The Nervous Cocker Spaniel

Scooby is loving and affectionate but is terrified of noises and strangers, however, we're getting there slowly but surely!

Comment From Pauline - Website Owner

Hi Steve,

What a beautiful Cocker Spaniel Scooby is, and he looks so affectionate!

My Cocker Spaniel was quite timid when I first got him and I was given a CD called Sounds CD. It was a compilation of snippets of sounds; telephones ringing, children screaming, adults shouting, sirens, thunder, etc. which was meant to be played when your puppy was around, even when he was asleep.

I played this most days when my puppy was about to fall asleep - not too loudly though.

Today, my Cocker is ok with most sounds (except for the hoover - he's such a woos!)

There are some tips and advice on my Socializing Your Puppy page which you might find helpful.

Good luck!

Scooby and Fraggle!
by: Pauline (Webowner)

Yes, that's a good idea - what about a photo of Fraggle? Don't worry if he's not a cocker - we love all breeds of dogs!

Why not give us an update of life with your dogs and another photo of Scooby as a 'young man'?

Best wishes,

Pauline

What a lovely cocker Scooby is - glad to hear he's almost over his fear of noises and strangers. Scooby and Fraggle sound like they're great friends - what about a photo of Fraggle?

We Just Love Spaniels
by: steve

I haven't worked out how to add to scooby's blog yet, but thank you for your interest and support, he is a lovely boy.

He's very demanding at times for affection. We got him from a free ad site - he had been bought from what sounds like a puppy farm.

His owners were out a lot and he was very problematical, but he is now with humans and his new mentor, which is Fraggle, a springer collie cross, and they are really hitting it off.

Scooby is still very nervous, but accepts hoovers and lawnmowers in his stride, it's just humans and unexpected noises that freak him out. If the door is knocked upon, Fraggle runs to the door and barks, Scooby runs for the bed and burrows!

He is now a year old and a real member of the family, but he is so hyper active it is unreal, he must do 10 miles a day in the house, keep you all posted steve, mandy, scooby and fraggle.

Scooby!

Scooby resembles my Angel, both in looks and in temperament. She is only 3 months old now and very hyper!

Angel gets very scared of noises and strangers. I liked Pauline's advice of getting her used to various sounds.

Take care of Scooby, he is a gorgeous looking chap!
