My Cocker Spaniel Has Gained Weight On Raw Answer Food

by Pat Raechal
(Clay, NY, USA)

I put my cocker spaniel on Answer raw dog food because she has tons of allergies. She is much happier, doesn't smell as bad and she acts like a puppy.

She is 8 years old and I got her 2 years ago from a rescue group. However she has been gaining a lot of weight on the raw food. She now only gets it in the morning and an all-natural and organic, grain-free food at night.

Is any one else having this problem?

Also, she does not play with toys. She's never played with toys in her life. Before I got her she was 100% kenneled and never played with a toy so she does not know what one is.

Any suggestions please?

Teach Her To Play With Toys
by: Audrey

Your dog may not be playing with toys because she doesn't know how to - especially if she was kennelled a lot when she was young. How about teasing her with a little soft, squeaky, toy? Be enthusiastic with it, jiggle it, roll it, and see what her reaction is.

If she's not interested, try smearing it with a little peanut butter (you can always wash it later) to get her interested.

When she shows interest, even if it's only to look at it, give her a small treat, and develop it from there.
