Leaving Alone...
by: Anonymous

My Cocker Spaniel, Daisy, is 15 months old. I work 8-4 but I don't leave her all day. We have a play and a long walk in the morning before before I go to work and I come home at lunch time to let her out for wee and poo.

We have another play, a quick walk or jog (20 mins) then when I come home at around 4:30. I have another play in the garden with her (chase or fetch) then we have another walk together for about an hour.

Dogs who are left alone a lot with little exercise can become destructive as they get bored and have little stimulation for the mind.

If you can't get to her at lunch get a friend or dog walker to take her out. Trust me behavioural problems from bored dogs can be a real challenge to correct.

We rescued Daisy and she was crated all day every day - we spent a lot of time trying to rehabilitate her.

Not only that, it has take her a while to trust women again.
