Joint Issues?

by Joe T.
(Latham, NY)

My 7-year old female cocker spaniel, Paige, is very active and outgoing. Yesterday she was very sluggish and apparently had problems resting and climbing stairs.

I took her to our vet, who tested her musculoskeletal system and found perhaps a potential for a right knee problem.

She had her anal glands cleaned and the vet surmised that this may be part of her problem.

When I brought her home and let her out in the backyard, Paige started chasing a squirrel (which is her everyday custom). After running about 10 feet, she came to a halt and bowed her head. She moved very tentatively all night and all of today, resting more than normal.

Is it seems that she has difficulty raising her head.

Is this a disc issue? Other than X-Rays, what other tests and treatment can be recommended?

Thanks for your help.
