Is My Apartment Big Enough For A Cocker Spaniel?

by Brenda
(United States)

I am being offered the chance to adopt two 3-year old adult female cocker spaniels. Would they be happy to live in a 568 sq. ft. apartment if they are exercised every day?

I already know them and love them from pet sitting but the family they are with need to find them a new home because of their own small children.

Would they be better off adopted out to a family with a yard?

Thanks,
Brenda

Hi Brenda,

My advice would be to go for it!

Although Cocker Spaniels like being outdoors, they are also very comfortable as indoor dogs, so long as they are adequately exercised every day and a little more at weekends.

The fact that these Cockers are already adults will help to make things much easier, although they may need a little extra TLC until they get used to a ‘quieter’ life.

Good luck and enjoy your cocker spaniels!

Indoor Cocker Spaniels
by: Anonymous

I live in an apartement and I have two cocker spaniels - Amy and Jackson - and they have never lived in anything other than an apartment.

I exercise them regularly and let them off-leash to run in the park at weekends.

My dogs are fit and healthy, but more important, they're happy!
