How To Make Her Playful ?

Why is my cocker spaniel not playful with balls? Why is she very lazy?

Reply from Pauline (Web Owner)

Rudi is quite right - not all puppies want to play, and some actually need to be taught how to play!

You can learn how to teach your puppy games quite easily, however, there are one or two things to bear in mind while you're doing so.

Firstly, I'd recommend you read this page Why should I teach my puppy to play puppy games? before going on to try some of the following:

Find It!

Fetch It!

Hide And Seek

Tug Of War

Enjoy your playtime!

My Puppy Won't Play Ball!
by: Anonymous

My puppy won't play with her ball either. She'll play hide and seek and chase games (when I let her) and she likes fooling around generally.

She loves her other toys and chews, but she's just not interested in balls or any game that involves a ball!

I've given up trying to teach her and have accepted that some puppies just don't like balls!

Playful Puppy
by: Rudi

Not all puppies are playful - at least not straight away. Some puppies need to be 'taught' how to play.

Also, not all puppies are the same. Some like to play more than others.

Even once you've taught your puppy a few games, there's still no guarantee that he or she will want to play all the time, and not always when you want to play or as much as you want.

I read some good pieces on this site about teaching puppies to play but I can't remember where they were. Perhaps if you have a look around you'll find them?
