How Old Is Too Old?

by Rebekah
(Northern ireland)

My cocker spaniel bitch is 5 years old and as she is a really lovely example of the breed, I am considering breeding her but I am worried she is too old.

Breeding
by: Anonymous

If you don't know how old is too old, I suggest you don't breed from your Cocker Spaniel. Instead, I strongly recommend that, if you're really interested in breeding, you learn all about the breeding process before you breed any dog.

The breed is kept pure by good breeders but they can't compete with the likes of puppy farmers and back-yard breeders.

Please, I don't mean to be rude or offensive, but for the sake of the cocker spaniel breed, don't do it. :-)

Too Old To Breed?
by: Anonymous

Two to three years old is about the ideal time for a bitch to breed as she's called as being in her prime, however, I don't think she's too old at 5, especially if she's fit and healthy.

If you're seriously thinking about breeding from her, why not speak to your vet?
