How Much Grooming Does A Spaniel Really Need?

by Polly
(Seattle WA)

For a dog not going in the show ring, is regular trimming/plucking/scissoring to shape really necessary?

I take for granted that any dog needs attention to the face, feet and ears, (as well as an occasional bath,) but does a spaniel really need more than that?

Grooming Cocker Spaniels
by: Lol

I'm afraid he need quite a lot!

Your cocker should be brushed thoroughly at least once each week and fully groomed once a month or at the very least once ever three months.

If you don't regularly remove the loose undercoat it will become matted and cause all sorts of problems.
