How Big Or Small Should A 10-week Old English Golden Cocker Spaniel Be?

Sleepy Head

Sleepy Head

My dog Bruno seems quite big for his age. The owner said it's 9-weeks old but it's quite big.

Could you tell me how tall he should be or show me a picture of a 9-11 week old spaniel please?

Reply from Pauline (Web Owner)

Bruno looks divine! I simply adore golden cocker spaniels - especially puppies.

Bruno does look rather big for a 9 week old cocker spaniel, he looks more like 12 weeks, however, photos can be deceiving.

The following is a general outline of what cocker spaniel puppies should weigh as they are developing. Please note that it's a guideline only - puppies grow and develop at different rates.

  • Up to 4 weeks, a puppy could weigh in at up to 1.5kg (that's just over 3lbs);

  • Up to 8 weeks, a puppy could weigh in at 3kg (that's just over 6.5 lbs);

  • Up to 12 weeks, a puppy could weigh in at a little under 5kgs (that's just under 11 lbs);

  • Up to 16 weeks, a puppy could weigh in at just under 7kgs (that's just under 15 lbs)

Please note that this is only a guide and if you are concerned about your puppy's health or weight you really ought to take advice from your vet.

What a smashing puppy!
