- 2.5 pounds ground meat (beef or a mixture of beef with poultry or pork)
- 2.5 cups whole grain cereal
- 2.5 cups old fashioned oats (not instant)
- 3/8 cup olive oil
- 3/8 cup molasses (black strap if you can get it, avoid sorghum)
- 3 eggs
- 3 packets gelatin
Mix all the ingredients together, then roll into bite size balls.
Set on a cookie sheet and freeze, then package in freezer containers in useable portions.
Remove and thaw for use as desired.
2 - Salmon Crackers - Homemade Dog Biscuit Recipes
These homemade dog biscuits are a particular favourite because it's a really 'meaty' treat. And when you're making your own dog food, you probably wouldn't think salmon and mackerel have the added value of omega 3 fatty acids for your dog.
This is a basic recipe which you can add to or substitute other ingredients according to your dog's individual taste.
- 1 standard can salmon or mackerel, with bones, liquid and skin
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1/2 cup of whole wheat flour
- 1/4 cup of unbleached flour
- 1 teaspoon of olive oil
If your dog loves cheese, why not throw in a handful of grated cheese!
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F/180 degrees C/Gas Mark 4.
Mash canned fish to a pulp with oil and beaten egg.
Add flour and combine into a workable dough.

- 1 cup flour
- 1/2 cup peanut butter (creamy or chunky)

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F/180 degrees C/Gas Mark 4.
Cream peanut butter and stock together.
In a separate bowl, combine flour and baking powder.
Then gradually add flour to peanut butter mixture until you have a stiff dough, adding more flour if necessary.
Roll the dough out to a thickness of about 1/4 inch on a floured surface, then use cookie cutters or a knife to cut into desired shapes.
Bake for 20 minutes (longer for crunchier cookies) on an ungreased cookie sheet.
Cool completely before serving, and store in an air tight container to ensure freshness.
4 - Bimmer's Bark Bites
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F/200 C/Gas Mark 5 and spray a mixing bowl with non-stick spray.
In the mixing bowl, cream together:
- 1 1/2 cups peanut butter
- 3 large eggs
- 1/2 cup molasses
In a separate bowl combine:
- 2 1/2 cups graham flour (or unbleached white)
- 1 1/2 cups oatmeal
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
Add dry ingredients gradually to peanut butter mixture and mix at medium speed until well blended into a firm dough.
Roll into small bite-sized balls.
Bake for 12 - 15 minutes or until they begin to turn golden brown.

5 - Baby Food Treats - Homemade Dog Biscuit Recipes
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F/180 degrees C/Gas Mark 4.
- 3-1/2 ounce jar liver or beef baby food
- 1/3 cup wheat germ
- 2/3 cup non-fat dry milk
Mix ingredients together well.
Drop the mixture, a teaspoon at a time, onto a greased cookie sheet and bake for 12 - 15 minutes.
Cool and store in the refrigerator.
6 - Oat and Honey Dog Biscuit Treat
This is another simple homemade dog biscuit recipe you'll be tempted to share with your pooch.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F/180 degrees C/Gas Mark 4.
- 1 cup oatmeal
- 1-1/2 cups of whole wheat or graham flour
- 1/2 cup of honey
- 1/2 cup of water
- 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon
Mix the flour, cinnamon and oatmeal together and set aside.
In a separate bowl, whisk the honey and water together. Make a well in the center of the flour and and slowly mix the honey and water in with dry ingredients until you have a stiff dough. Add more flour if necessary.
Roll out, about 1/2 inch thick, on a floured surface, then cut into shapes and place on an ungreased cookie sheet and bake for 20 minutes, or until the biscuits are lightly browned.
Cool completely on racks and store in airtight containers.
