My dog, Tia, has got, like, some eyelashes in her eye, and it's irritating it, making it look kinda strange. We want to take her to the vet, but we don't have the time or money...

How can I help her? I can hardly stand to look at her eyes now :( help?

Poor Tia

Please, please, please, find the money from somewhere, borrow it, if you have to, but please take Tia to see her vet - now.

Dog Eye Problems
by: Web Owner

Please note, I am not a vet or medical professional - I strongly recommend you visit one.

It sounds like your cocker spaniel may be suffering from Distichiasis which is where small eyelashes grow on the inner surface or very edge of the eyelids. (Cocker Spaniels are among the breeds most commonly affected).

The hairs irritate the cornea as they rub against they eye which causes redness and inflamation, and sometimes a discharge.

Your cocker spaniel may blink often (as you would if you had a stray eyelash or a bit of grit in your eye).

Your dog may rub his eye(s) against the furniture or the carpet for relief.

If you don't get this seen to, his cornea may become ulcerated or infected.

If the problem is Distichiasis, your vet will probably remove the abnormal eyelashes and give him antibiotic eye drops to eliminate infections.

From the sounds of it you love your dog very much, otherwise you wouldn't be trying to find a solution.

Your dog will be in considerable discomfort - please, please, please, try to find the money from somewhere to visit your vet. Your dog is relying on you to help him.

As for not having the time, most vets operate outside of working hours so you wouldn't have to lose any working time.
