How To Order

To order your dog portrait, you can contact the artist directly, please don't forget to mention our name, or you can contact us, and we will make the necessary arrangements for you.

Points To Consider Prior To Contacting The Artist

The following simple steps may help you to get the best out of any discussion with the artist.

Step 1 - Choose Your Favourite Dog Photos

From your most favourite dog photos, choose one that you'd like the artist to work from. Alternatively, provide a selection of photographs and the artist will decide the best layout and colouring for the portrait.

Consider what it is about the photograph that you particularly like and pass that on to the artist.

Step 2 - Choose Your Style

Decide what style you would like to commission, for example, dog portrait in watercolours, dog drawing in pencil or ink, or cartoon caricature. Do you want a head shot or would you prefer head and body? Would you like to add anything into the background, or would you prefer it left blank?

Step 3 - Choose Which Size You Want

Consider what size you would like. This could depend on whether you want your dog to fill the frame or a more unusual composition. If you are not sure, the artist will advise depending upon the possibilities from the photograph(s) you supply.

Step 4 - Background And Colouring

Consider the background - is there a background colour you would prefer, or would you prefer white? If you'd like a coloured background but you're not sure which, the artist will advise which colour would compliment your dog's colouring.

Step 5 - Contact The Artist

E-mail digital photographs directly to the artist, or post your originals to his studio, giving your details and a little background information about your dog's 'personality', for example, does he have any endearing traits or habits? Does he have any not so endearing habits? What is it that you particularly love about your dog?

The artist will bear this information in mind when working and will try to capture the personality of your dog in his work.

The Artist's Promise

The art produced by Billy Barden will be unique to you, and hand drawn; the old fashioned way of producing art, not a click on the mouse that will generate a lifeless, uninteresting computer image that can be accessed by anyone.

The artist uses fine quality art paper and card, and light-fast inks, and all his work is signed. As a mark of confidence he will provide a free proof preview before you commit to purchase.
